My teacher asked us to look back on our New Year Resolutions that we made from the beginning of the year. We have to write a post about which ones we have accomplished, and which one that we failed to do.
I have been succesful with my school and classroom because my goals were to get good grades and always participate in school activities. I actually accomplished these things.
The second one that I have accomplished is a Personal goal, because my goal was to to eat healthier foods like vegetables and always drink water. Ever since March, I have always eaten vegetables and I drink water everyday.
The ones that I have not been successful with is Community. My goal was to donate clothes and to donate food. I was thinking about donating canned food for the food banks, but I was busy doing other stuff. Finally, my last one is Global. My goal was to recycle everyday. I always turned off the lights when I finished doing some stuff and when I watch TV, I always turn it off when I’m done.
I think I will continue being successful in the end and I will try my best.

When I joined the 2009 student blogging challenge, my classmates and I wrote our first post. It was about why we should we join the student blogging challenge. My teacher asked us to read over our first post and notice how our writing has changed over the years. When I read my first post I noticed that my writing didn’t have a lot of details and my periods were everywhere. I also put a lot of commas in my writing. I feel like my first post wasn’t exciting and intresting to people. The writing wasn’t good and it was kind of sloppy.
When I compared my new post Save The Earth to my first one, I noticed that my new post has a lot of details and good words that I use. I think my writing is getting better because I don’t make as many mistakes. My teacher Mrs. Braidwood helped me a lot with my writting because she taught me how to use punctuation in a better way.

Posted by stephanie in 1, 2, 3, tags: Blog, Blogroll, Challenge 8, Class blog, Comment, Learning, Poems, post
For challenge 8 our task is count to three-click on a blog from your blogroll (1), then click on a blog from their blogroll (2) and finally click on a blog from that blogroll (3) – leave a comment on a post at the blog.
These are the ones that I commented on:
Skyping with Florida- Mrs. Watson 123 class is a grade 1, 2, and 3 class in a small island of British Columbia, Canada. I commented their post because they did the same thing as our class did, they asked questions about them like cultures, food, animals, weather, city, and more.
Around the World – The Sleepover- I commented on Ms. Deyenberg’s class blog because their post is really fun to read. They slept at their school over night. They did a lot of fun stuff like playing on the Wii. They also went geocaching in the dark.
Melville Intermediate- CPA Boys Highlight- I commented Mr Webb’s blog because they posted a lot of videos and it’s really fascinating.
You should try this, it’s fun!

Hi everyone, last April it was time to celebrate Earth hour. People all over the world turned off the lights for one hour to conserve electricity and give the world a break from all the power that we use.
Earth hour was started in Sydney, Australia. Millions of homes and businesses turned off their lights to stand against climate changes. One year later Earth hour became more of a global event. More than 50 million people and also 35 countries participated. The reason why we continue to have Earth hour now is because people around the world want to show everyone that we need to conserve energy and avoid more global warming. If we don’t protect our planet our resources might be in danger in the future.
If your participating in Earth Hour there are many fun things to do outside while you‘re saving electricity. When it gets darker you can light some candles or even flash lights so that you can see. You can even play games like cards or monopoly or boogle.

Last week my classmates and I went to the Vancouver Aquarium for a trip. We slept there for one night and then we went back to Courtenay. Before we went to Vancouver, it was an ordinary school day and all of us were waiting for the end of the day. Then we all went downstairs to wait for our drivers to pick us up. All of were so excited, including me. It was my first time going to the aquarium. Finally, we went into our cars and drove off. While we were in the car, we listened to some music, but I was sleeping at the time. My group turned on the music too loud and then I woke up. I tried to sleep again, but I couldn’t. We drove about an hour and a half and then we arrived at the Nanaimo terminal.
We waited at the terminal for a few minutes and then we went to the ferry. It was really fun and exciting because we got to go where ever we wanted to, but we can’t go to the outside deck without an adult watching us. Later, my friend and I went to the cafeteria to eat some food for lunch. We ordered a crunchy burger with fries and drinks and then we went for dessert like ice cream swirl. It was a really good lunch. We waited for an hour on the ferry.
When we got to Vancouver we packed our stuff and waited for our transit bus to come and pick as up. When the other students got on the bus, all of the space got crowded some other people were standing. All of my classmates were singing songs like Tik Tok and some other songs as well. All of us were really loud, but it was fun.
We were dropped off at the bus stop and then walked to Stanley Park. After we got there, we went on the playground behind the aquarium. We waited for an hour in the rain and we got soaked. After we all waited outside, we split up into teams and then started wakling. We got to see a whole bunch of animals like jelly fish, beluga whales, dolphins, sea anemones, sharks, turtles, fish, crocodiles, frogs, snakes, and many more.
Finally we slept downstairs where the beluga whales are and then we got ready for bed. We slept at 2:00 am and got up at 6:45 am. All of us ate our breakfast and then we walked around and took some pictures. We checked the gift shop and bought some souveneirs, but unfortunately I didn’t buy one because I didn’t have any money left. After we were finished buying some stuff we went back home on the bus. I think this was the best trip that I ever had so far and it was really fun.

Hi everybody. For our fifth challenge my classmates and I will write a post about why we should have a Creative common license.
When you have a blog, people can see it all over the world and also the pictures that you have. That’s why you can’t copy other peoples images without their permission. There is also one way to borrow the pictures that you took from a website and that site is called Flickr. People can use the images but there are some rules that go with them.
I would like to have a Creative Common License on my blog because people can share our work with other people. If we are allowed to have a Creative Commons License, I would really like to have one.

- Huzzah- Has lots of posts and there are some blog links that you can visit.
- Mrs Smith’s Class- Has tons of surveys that you can answer and some posts.
- Kids In The Mid- They have a lot of posts on their blog. They also have cool pictures that they put in their posts, and some videos.
- Blog Blog Blog Blog- They have tons of videos and they also have lots of fascinating posts.

The oceans water reflects the shining sun
The water sparkles like glitter floating in the sky
The waves are dancing in the wind
The ocean is calmer than a sleeping baby
“Splash”
A raindrop falls from the sky
The clouds are getting darker and darker
“Pow”
Lightning strikes
The oceans wave is aggressive as a charging bull
“Boom”
The waves crash through the rocks
The sun came up blue skies came in
The sky twirls like a ballet dancer
And everything became quite.

April 22nd was Earth Day. While we were in the school we didn’t bring school bagpacks or even our textbooks. We didn’t use any paper at all, we all used our desks to write for our math. My teacher taught us how to understand time zone such as UTC ( Universal Time Coordinated) GMT ( Greenwich Mean time) and many more. We used number lines to show and understand time zones. For example, negative 12 to positive 12 which are called integers. If you flip the number line down you would get a thermometer. We also watched a video about the Pacific Rim, it is also called garbage patch if some of you may have not know. It was a shocking video for me because across the pacific rim there are millions of pieces of garbage in the ocean even the ocean floor has tons of it. Many fishes and other sea creatures eat them, some died because they ate plastics and they cannot digest into their stomach. Many people have dropped tons of plastics in the ocean. They can’t clean it because there’s to0 much garbage. That’s why all of us need to recycle so that we can make the world better for us and animals.

My classmates and I have been working on our challenge 2 post about when is it appropriate to use you real picture as your avatar for your blog.
In my opinion using your picture is not really a good thing because we don’t want strangers to know our personal information or recognize us . You can also ask your teacher or your parents to have permission to use your photo as an avatar. The good thing about animated avatars is that your safe from other people and you can also create animated people. Some of you may have seen real pictures in other blogs. If you have a picture of yourself in your blog be careful not to put your name or your last name so that you’re safe from other people.
So remember always be careful if you put your picture in your blog.
